Nice to meet you!
Before I came to the United States, I was just a housewife who focused on my children and my family. Now in order to adapt to the new environment, I am re-entering the campus to open a new chapter of my life. I want to be a qualified teacher, and I hope that by sharing my own experience and feelings, I can help others who have difficulties adapting to the new environment like me.
My Story
I’m lucky to have been able to build a new career by doing what I love.

From a young age, I had a vision for what I wanted my professional future to look like a designer. As the focused and goal-driven person that I am, I decided to be a teacher, pursue my new career, and make it happen.

Since coming to the United States in 2019, I began to learn English from scratch at an ESL language school in Manhattan, New York, because of the outbreak of the epidemic, the trajectory of my life has changed. I moved from New York to New Jersey to start my academic journey through Zoom meetings. During this very difficult period, I received encouragement and support from the professors at Middlesex College, and now I have successfully transferred to Rutgers University- New Brunswick Campus.

As a non-traditional student, I dropped my career to take care of my children as a housewife for 15 years. Right now I start my new chapter with my children and I want to be their support in adapting new environment. As far as I am concerned, teaching by example is also a kind of education and can bring about positive effects. It is a big challenge to learn a new language and adapt to a new education system. Therefore, I want to influence the children through my way of solving problems and attitude when facing new challenges, and hope to face difficulties and grow together with them.

I felt proud of myself for successfully transferring to the RU through these two years of learning English from the beginning. And my adolescent children have changed their views of me, which has made me feel the joy of self-growth. Now I am been here and have a meaningful life.
